What should I expect when I visit for the first time?

We know it's not easy visiting a church for the first time. You may be asking yourself questions such as: Am I really welcome? Will I be conspicuous? How do I dress? Will my kids like it? Will they ask me for money? Am I welcome if I am not sure I believe? We want your visit to be stress free and fun so here is a quick overview of what to expect at our church.

Arriving

First of all, Pathway Fellowship meets at 8525 Madison Avenue, Suite 130 in Fair Oaks.  Park anywhere in the parking lot.  You will be greeted at the front door by our friendly volunteers who will say hello and be ready to answer any questions you have about where to go or what to do.

Coffee

We know that good coffee brings people together so we invite you to join us in the Cafe before and after services to hang out & fellowship, drink coffee and watch the little kids on the playground.  Help yourself, there's always plenty to go around.

Kids & Youth

If you have kids (ages 6 months through 5th grade), you will be pointed to KidZone area where you can take them to our children's program.  You are always welcome to take your kids into the services with you, but all of our kids really enjoy KidZone.  We have a good security system so you will know that your kids are safe and well cared for.  If it's your first time visiting you will be asked to fill out some information so we keep your kids as safe as we can!  Grades 6-8 meet at 10:30 in room 5 while Grades 9-12 attend the main worship gathering with parents.  All of our students meet on Tuesday nights from 6:30-8:30 in the Student Center.  (Off-site in the summer)

Worship Services

We recognize that just as we all have different preferences in food, work, and recreation we also have different preferences in worship music and styles. We offer two different and wonderful worship services for you to choose from. You can think of Pathway’s worship opportunities like being able to choose between two different blends of delicious coffee. Some prefer the rich, smooth taste of traditional worship characterized by great hymns and a more formal liturgy. Others prefer the bold, robust flavor of modern worship characterized by passionate praise, a live band, and an informal atmosphere. We invite you to choose your blend and find the worship experience that is right for you.

Classic 9:00am

The first service is more of that classic flavor in both the style of music and service format.  While you are always welcome to come as you are, in this service you are more likely to see attire ranging from slacks & polo shirts to suits and dresses.  When you enter the sanctuary, you will be given a copy of a bulletin by one of our ushers which has information about upcoming events and opportunities at our church. Our ushers will help you find a seat and answer any questions you may have. After enjoying a few minutes of meditative instrumental worship by our pianist David Kasperik, the worship team opens the service with a great blend of time honored hymns and songs of praise.  Relevant announcements for the Pathway family are followed a heart-felt prayer time and morning message given by our Senior Pastor, Mike Goodyear.   We generally end the service around 10 am with a hymn, the Pastoral benediction and then dismiss to the cafe to enjoy coffee and fellowship.

Modern 10:30am

The second service at Pathway has a modern feel (drums, guitars, keyboard, and vocalists.) When you enter the sanctuary, pick up a copy of a bulletin which has information about upcoming events and opportunities at our church.  You can also pick up a Bible to use during service (or even take it home if you don't have a readable translation).  We encourage folks to bring their Bible each week.  The service begins with some meaningful yet high-energy worship, followed by a welcome, some announcements and prayer.  Feel free to share a prayer request on the flap of your bulletin.  Just tear it off and leave it at the altar rail, or even in your seat if you prefer.  Our senior pastor, Mike Goodyear will give a message that is based on the Bible and relevant to daily life. The teaching will last about 35 minutes and we generally end the service with a few announcements, prayer, and a song.  The whole service is about 75 minutes. As soon as we dismiss, you can pick up your kids from the KidZone check-in area and then stay around and enjoy some coffee and get to know people.

Communion

We celebrate communion the first Sunday of every month, so if you are a committed Christian, you are welcome to share communion with us. If not, relax, sit back and reflect on your experience in worship so far.  Don't worry, we won't judge you if you decide to opt out of our communion time.  We care about you and genuinely want to help you grow closer to God.  We hope that what you hear and experience at Pathway will help you begin a relationship with God, encourage & strengthen your faith and help you live out your faith in God everyday.
